On 19 January, the Global Infrastructure Hub hosted a seminar in collaboration with the G20 Infrastructure Working Group (IWG) on ‘Scaling up sustainable infrastructure investment by leveraging private sector participation’.
The seminar brought together stakeholders from the public and private sectors, providing them with a platform to share their work and perspectives on how we can best address gaps in infrastructure investment. The meeting was opened by Wempi Saputra, Assistant Minister of Finance for Macroeconomy and International Finance in the Ministry of Finance of Indonesia. The session continued with a presentation by the secretariat of the Sustainable Finance Working Group (SFWG).
In the second session, Henri Blas, Chief Content Officer at the Global Infrastructure Hub, presented the status of sustainable infrastructure investment and private sector participation which included a discussion around investment trends and issues related to the participation of the private sector in sustainable infrastructure investment. In the following session, Meridiam, I-Squared, SMBC, and China-Africa Development Fund presented the private investor perspectives on the gap in scaling up sustainable infrastructure investment.
