The GI Hub is pleased to announce the appointment of new Directors to our Board of Directors and a new Chair of the Board, and to gratefully acknowledge the contributions of our outgoing Directors.
Mr Chris Legg joins the GI Hub Board as Independent Director and Chair. Mr Legg is a former senior Australian Treasury officer with more than 40 years’ experience in domestic and international economic policy issues, including in leadership roles related to Australian international economic engagement, participation in the G20 and APEC, financial system stability and regulation, foreign investment, and infrastructure. He was Australia’s Chief Negotiator for the creation of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), and subsequently Australia’s Director on the AIIB Board. Mr Legg previously served on the Executive Board of the World Bank Group and on the Executive Board of the IMF.
Ms Genevieve Overell AM FAICD joins the GI Hub Board as Independent Director and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee. Ms Overell is currently an independent, non-executive director on a portfolio of Boards and brings significant commercial, legal, governance, and advocacy experience. She has previously held leading executive and non-executive roles in financial services, infrastructure, professional services, government, the health sector, not-for-profit organisations, and the arts. Most recently, Ms Overell was Director, Government Advisory at Deutsche Bank AG Australia. Mr Kyle Peters joins the GI Hub Board as Independent Director after having previously served as a GI Hub Strategic Advisor. Mr Peters has more than three decades of experience in international development and management. He is currently a Senior Advisor to BCG, Coordinator of the 16th Replenishment of the African Development Fund at the African Development Bank, Senior Advisor to the President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and member of the President’s Board of Eminent Advisers. Previously, he had three decades of experience at the World Bank. In his last position as Senior Vice President, Operations and interim Managing Director and COO, Mr Peters led the World Bank’s worldwide operations.
Mr Legg, Ms Overell, and Mr Peters join the Board of Directors as our prior Chair Dr Steven Kennedy and Independent Director Robert Milliner depart.
Dr Kennedy served as Director and Chair of the Board of Directors of the GI Hub from 2019. During his period as Chair, the Board of Directors oversaw with insight and leadership the GI Hub’s cultural transformation and evolution to an established and valuable advisor to the G20 and its Infrastructure Working Group, as well as a leading voice in the global infrastructure landscape.
Mr Milliner served as Director on the Board of Directors of the GI Hub and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee from the establishment of the Board in 2015. His leadership and indefatigable support of the GI Hub Board, and the GI Hub mandate and vision, helped transform the organisation and its role supporting the G20 infrastructure agenda and wider infrastructure landscape.
We warmly welcome our new Directors and thank our outgoing Directors for their invaluable contributions to our organisation.
