Including gender-responsive measures in PPPs can help to further promote gender equality and achieve stronger socioeconomic impacts. For example, considering women’s needs and preferences when identifying and designing PPPs helps develop projects that better meet the demands of the population, thereby resulting in better outcomes.
This toolkit developed by the World Bank Group, the Global Infrastructure Facility (GIF), and the Public-Private Infrastructure Advisory Facility (PPIAF) provides practical tools and guidelines for developing gender responsive PPPs. Gender responsive PPPs incorporate design features, measures, and specific actions for reducing gender inequalities (or closing gender gaps) within the community stakeholders that the project affects directly or indirectly.
